    We come to the end of this longer-than-originally-intended Outback 2009 series of photographs. This image of the intrepid travellers heading down Mount Remarkable symbolises the “Going Home” at the end of trip. Thanks for viewing!

    Objective achieved. Mt. Remarkable summit reached. But nary a view.

    No doubt the trees had once been cut down at the top to permit surveyors to do their surveying, but re-growth has meant there is no view to be had these days from the top of Mt. Remarkable. There were plenty to be had on the climb up, though.

    A hazy look across from Mt. Remarkable to Booleroo Centre, South Australia. With a population of around 300, Booleroo Centre is a small but important regional centre for surrounding agricultural communities.

    The Outback trip is almost over, the homeward journey begins – but not in a direct path. Port Germein on South Australia’s Spencer Gulf was once best known for having the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere. This is no longer the case due to storm damage.

    The road between Arkaroola and Leigh Creek held a surprise. A couple of palm tree hidden in plain sight just off the edge of the road. They’re not something that you’d normally associate with Australian Deserts – so I wonder how they came to be here.

    It’s been a while since this creek had any water flowing along it. Can you see the muddy watermark on the rock face on the left of the image? Imagine how long it’s taken to carve that cliff face. [Arkaroola, South Australia].
