    And here’s what they’re all waiting for. The water wagon’s doing circuits of the ring in order to wet the surface enough to keep the dust down. It seemed like it had gone around enough times to convert the dust bowl into a swimming pool, but no, the water just kept on soaking in.

    I’ve only been to the Armidale Rodeo a couple of times before, and not picked a great time of day to be there. I think the best action is to be seen in the evening sessions – but I’m not usually in town that late.

    Here we have some of the contestant’s horses, waiting for the afternoon’s events to begin.
