The server upon which this blog runs has now been operating without a reboot or maintenance for over 600 days. While this in itself is nothing unexpected for the Linux operating system and the various pieces of software that comprise the system, it does mean that the system configuration which was fine for a then 4-year old blog, is now straining to support a 6-year old blog and the exponential growth in search engine crawling.
I propose to apply various bandaids here and there over the next days to give the server some relief while I ponder options for the future.
This message is therefore just to advise of possible disruptions to service.
