Outback 2009: Signs of a previous life

The Oodnadatta track essentially follows the route of the old section of the Ghan Railway line. For this reason there are numerous old railway-related buildings dotted in the midst of what now appears to be the vast emptiness. In days gone by steam locomotives had to be refilled with water on a regular basis. The supporting infrastructure can still be seen – in ruin – every now and again for several hundred kilometres.
