While it’s not exactly a great photograph, it’s unusual to get one of this creature in the wild at all. The lyrebird, while heard and seen only by the scratchings that it leaves behind in the dirt, is rarely seen. The male lyrebird has an impressive array of tail feathers which it uses to display with.
It’s fitting, then, that this photograph was made on the Lyrebird Track at New England National Park.
