Monster lichen flakes

I’m used to using macro lenses to pick out the detail in lichen – this appears to be some mutant killer lichen hanging off the side of a tree in Cathedral Rock National Park. To put a scale on it, it’s above 30 cm (12 inches) from top to bottom of the frame.
