Snake in the grass

20071226-18-09-48.jpg

Just outside the kitchen window a snake has been hard at work shedding its skin. The skin disapears into the tall grass behind the skin so the snake was a little larger than you see. As best we can determine, the snake was a red-bellied black. Perhaps, even, the one that lives around the house :-)

[Update: Carin asked if snakes normally shed or moult their skin. The answer, so far as I can tell, is yes. Here are some references].
