This web site was “cracked” recently – probably on November 3. What a nuisance! As best I can determine, the aim of the attack was to be able to gain access to the server. The vector for this intrusion was probably a weakness, as yet unknown to me, in the WordPress blogging software used here.
I’ve reinstalled and upgraded the software but it remains to be seen whether this attack is one that the upgraded WordPress software has been hardened against, or if it’s an as yet unknown problem.
Time will tell.
I don’t believe that any visitors’ PC has been exposed but, if you’ve visited visited this site between November 3 and now, it won’t do any harm to run an anti-virus and anti-spyware check.
