Native water well

Native water well

Not too far from Jundah (between Windorah and Longreach) there are a few water wells dug by aborigines to gain access to ground water. This well, and a few others like it nearby, are only about 30 cm (one foot) in diameter. The wells are now pretty much filled in with dirt kicked up by visitors and the elements but would certainly have been life-savers when the nearby creek was dry.
