The heavy mist generated after yesterday’s hail storm masked the extent of the damage. Over 170 calls for assistance were received by the State Emergency Services. The single most costly damage caused by the storm would appear to be that of the collapse of the Armidale Livestock Exhibition Centre. It would appear that the weight of the hailstones on the almost flat roof was enough to cause the building to collapse in on itself. The estimated cost to replace it is $500,000. No-one was injured.
