Staying in Windorah (pop. 60) overnight was most pleasant. A delicious meal was to be had at the local hotel. This shot, taken early the next morning, was framed with the intention of the power poles leading the eye into the flat, never-ending outback. Then a local zipped past in his Landcruiser.

The Westlander passenger train runs from Brisbane on the coast to Charleville on the edge of the Queensland outback. These days you have to transfer to a bus to travel further west to Quilpie even though the railway line runs to that small town.
Here, at Quipie, is the end of the line. Beyond Quilpie… there be dragons, red dirt, heat, dust and haze.
