First orchid of the season

Orchid: Caladenia

Here’s a photograph of the first orchid to be spotted on our acres this Spring. It’s the very one that I reported a few days ago. It’s about 1.5 cm across (6/10 inch). The best I’ve been able to identify it so far, is as a “Caladenia carnea” (Pink Fingers).

This one was sitting in filtered sunlight near one of the dams. Whereas this was the only one I saw a mere two days ago, I counted around 60 of them today.

Grey fox

Grey fox

This animal passed by, close to the house. I grabbed the camera but didn’t manage to catch other than some blurry shots as the animal went in and out of view as it passed through some scrub. I assumed it was a fox. Then, on first viewing this shot, I thought it might be a dingo. The tail was fox-like, but the colouring and snout didn’t seem very Red-Fox-like. However, on reflection, I think it’s just an old fox - grey with years.
