A my-eye view of the bird. This yellow-bodied bird, a Golden Whistler, caught my eye as it flitted high in the tree tops. Try as I might, I just couldn’t get a clear shot of it. Here, it’s about 15m (50 ft) up - and this is about the best shot I could get. The challenge is on - can I do better next time?

A saunter around the western end of the property in the spring-like afternoon sun saw me being challenged to take photographs of the many small, flighty birds I saw and heard all around me. Their moving through the dense foliage above meant that I couldn’t seem to rest the camera upon a subject before it had disappeared once again.
Here’s an Eastern Spinebill, a honeyeater, which stayed in the one spot long enough for me to catch it (just). Its long curved bill is almost hidden behind a branch of the tree.
