We had some drizzly rain recently. The lichen had become dry, crusty, outgrowths clinging to the side of trees and fenceposts; now, in the drizzle, they unfurled, sucking in the valuable moisture from the air. This image was taken in the poor early morning light, a morning made darker by the thick, almost squally, showers of drizzle, but yet not heavy enough to think of it as rain proper.
