I think that the reason I take so many early morning, mist and tree filled photographs at this time of year is that this is the only time of day when I have both daylight and a camera in hand. The sun rises at about 6:45 am, so this shot is taken with the sun still low in the sky and pushing through the remnant mist.

We had some drizzly rain recently. The lichen had become dry, crusty, outgrowths clinging to the side of trees and fenceposts; now, in the drizzle, they unfurled, sucking in the valuable moisture from the air. This image was taken in the poor early morning light, a morning made darker by the thick, almost squally, showers of drizzle, but yet not heavy enough to think of it as rain proper.
