It’s been unusually cloudy of late – not that I’m complaining mind you. Here are a couple of photographs taken early in the morning, recording mammatus clouds passing by. We didn’t get any rain from them, but they look impressive.

A nice pattern of mammatus “rain bags”.

You can just about see the rain falling vertically from each of the “bags” (between the underside of the clouds, and the tops of the trees).

beautiful! The bags in the first picture even seem to form a sort of ‘spine’.
