
Hillgrove, not too far from our property, was once a thriving gold mining community in the last decades of the 19th century. Once home to 3000 residents, there are now only about 50.
I’d never been to the Hillgrove Cemetery so I had a brief look today. Indeed, most of the dates in the headstones I looked at were dated around 1890s. The surrounding bush looks like it’s well on the way to reclaiming the cemetery as its own.
